Penney's Photographic Journey
My passion and love for photography started whilst serving in the Australian Regular Army. Twenty-two years with the Army gave me the opportunity to take pictures in some extraordinary countries.
After leaving the Army and while raising two incredible humans, I finally found my forever home in Kununurra, located in the Kimberley region of Western Australia.
Fourteen years ago, I opened my shop front for photography and while I was still very busy shooting weddings, commercial shoots and landscapes, I saw that photography was changing, with mobile phones taking over as the preferred method of shooting.
With this in mind, I changed my selling of photography to functional and usable art, printing my photographs on products such as coasters, placemats, stemless wine glasses, coffee mugs, water bottles, towels, pillowcases and shower curtains by using sublimation printing.
To date, my functional and usable art has been sent all over the world, so everyone can experience and enjoy the Kimberley region.
I am still blessed to be able to travel overseas every year and meet up with other photographers from foreign countries where I continue to learn and shoot.
I have been fortunate enough to be awarded the Escape Reader Photograph of the Year in 2012 for my photograph of a Jumping Penguin that I captured whilst down in Antarctic.
In 2013 I was awarded The Juror Award of Merit by the International Fine Art Photography Competition – Grand Prix DE LA DECOUVERTE held in Paris for my Still Life photograph of After the Flood.
Now I am a Grandmother to two amazing little humans, who I adore and cannot possibly imagine life without, and I still enjoy shooting weddings, families and commercial projects. My shop front has grown exponentially and I now want to expand into the world of ecommerce, so you can buy my prints and functional products online.
